But for Emerson, there's just one problem: she can read the mind of anyone whose lips touch hers. It's totally creepy and at first it seems like a curse. A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah; A true story of child soldiers fighting to survive. Hard to read, but once you start the book, you can't put it down.
Good book, took a while to read though because it made me sick to my stomach at times knowing its someone's story...A long Way Gone
'A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier' by Ishmael Beah: A human rights activist offers a firsthand account of war from the perspective of a former child soldier, detailing the violent civil war that wracked his native Sierra Leone and the government forces that transformed a gentle young boy into a killer as a member of the army.

BEL CANTO **One of World Book Night USA’s 2012 picks! Sign up to be a book giver at: http://www.us.worldbooknight.org/about-world-book-night/register-as-a-2012-giver Somewhere in South America, at home of the country's vice president, a lavish birthday party is being held in honor of a powerful Japanese businessman. It is a night out of a fairytale until a band of gun-wielding terrorists breaks in through the air-conditioning vents and takes the entire party hostage. But what begins as a panicked, life-threatening scenario turns into something quite different as terrorists and hostages forge unexpected bonds. People from different countries and continents become compatriots—and passionate, ill-fated love blooms upon this unlikely soil. (By Ann Patchett)
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett - worth reading
"One of my all time favorite books, Bel Canto by Ann Patchett" - Must read this one, too
Bel Canto - September 2011 Book Club Selection A wealthy Japanese businessman attends his birthday party in an unnamed country (Latin or South American) and becomes one of a roomful of hostages in an attempt to depose the current President. What follows is the story of the hostages and the captors as they try to coexist in an unexpected and seemingly hopeless situation. A very well told story that should be on everyone's reading list
Bel Canto - Ann Patchett Beautiful story!

Second in series after the Kite Runner. Both incredible books worth reading!
A Thousand Splendid Suns is a 2007 novel by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. It is his second, following his bestselling 2003 debut, The Kite Runner. The book focuses on the tumultuous lives of two Afghan women and how their lives cross each other, spanning from the 1960s to 2003. A beautiful account of a country so foreign few care to understand it, this moving tale of family, friendship and faith in Afghanistan is one everyone should open their hearts to.
This is by far my favorite book, and Khaled Hosseini is my favorite author. A Thousand Splendid Suns portrays one of the strongest and most touching relationships I have read about - the friendship between Mariam and Laila. It takes place in Afghanistan and explores the many struggles women have to go through. I don't want to give any of it away by providing a summary or review, but please just read it! You won't be disappointed!
A Thousand Splendid Suns - great book! Good book club read.

Mitch Albom ~ The Five People you Meet in Heaven ... GREAT book (horrible movie)
Be prepared to CRY! I thought this was a very good book, and when the movie came out, it was exactly as I pictured all the scenes would be...the colors, the images, the people...everything! Either Mitch Albom is a very good writer...or I should become a film maker!

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Amazing book.
The Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett. This is a great book
Pillars of the Earth; Ken Follett. I found his other books to be cheap and distasteful, so I was completely surprised by how good this was. It was a bit redundant and contrived at times, but was still a layered, epic masterpiece of historical fiction. Don't be put off by the size.

The Hunger Games worth reading and re reading. Ps read long before the "bandwagon"
Catching fire :3 #book #movie
The Hunger Games Series. So addicting.
The Hunger Games is based in a dystopian version of post-apocalyptic America where a random lottery picks numerous kids from various districts to fight in the hunger games, A.K.A a televised battle to death. The book is written in the voice of sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen, and offers a rather delightful concoction of Greek Mythology, Roman games and, well, reality television.
One of my absolute favorite book series, the Hunger Games trilogy.
