Another rose on my list for summer.. @ucbeau @winejulia you down with this? Phenomenal!!!

$90.95 Château de Beaucastel 2005 One of the region’s best wines. This massively concentrated, intense wine has notes of game, black cherries, dried herbs, cedar, garrigue, violets, earth and smoke. The Mourvedre grape leads in this blend. Full-bodied with a terrific warm finish. Decants for 2 hours. Moderate tannins in the finish. Food matches: creamed onions, prime rib, lamb shanks, cheddar cheese, dark chocolate.

Domaine de la Romanee-Conti "La Tache".....

One serious, and seriously delicious Malbec.

Tasting the Twisted Oak Winery Picpoul Beautiful lemongrass notes, crisp but creamy mid palate. Meyer lemon, white necterine and honey. YUM! Loving this, fabulous alternative to chardonnay! $24

I don't believe I've ever tried Picpoul, and I know I definitely haven't had it as a single varietal wine. It sounds tasty!

Ooooh I just love Grenache. -- Must keep exploring CA grenache!

2011 Maison Bleue Rosé. A pale, dry wine from Washington that pays homage to the famous rosés from Bandol.

Love this Grenache Blanc from William Allen

2009 Bergstrom Le Pre du Col Vineyard

I recently tried the '10, and it was young but still delicious. If you find an '09, grab it. Bergstrom makes a fine Pinot Noir for sure.

Aha! I kinda thought @winejulia would know this one. I only tried the rose, but now want to try them all

  • Beau

I'm much more a fan of the 2010's than 09's. Less ripeness, more structure and acidity for me. Still, if Bergstrom wasn't so expensive, I'd drink more of it :)

I hear ya Beau, but I did get the '10 Bergstrom Shea Vineyards for just about $20! However...they are usually priced much higher. I felt lucky for my find.

Also the rosé is only $19 - a way in! :)

New Release: 2011 Folin Cellars Grenache Rosé

A refreshing and lively Portuguese white wine. Definitely a summer porch-pounder.

1982 La Mission Haut Brion - my mouth wept with joy!

Bonny Doon Vineyard Alamo Creek Syrah 2007 13.3% ABV | Price: about $35* A meaty, gamey Syrah with a bewitching nose of voilets and leather and earth. It's a brilliant red-purple, still young and very fresh.

Château de Flaugergues La Mejanelle "Cuveé Sommelière" 2006 | Price: $19 Ruby red, this Coteaux du Languedoc opens with a nose of washed linen, cherry, and fresh Provençal herbs (okay, maybe Languedoc herbs). On the palate it's lightweight and slightly tannic, with red fruits and licorice and a smoky little undertow.

Thierry Germain Domaine des Roches Neuves Saumur Champigny | Price: $24 2006 Brilliant purple, this wine is a jewel in a glass. I pour, and smell first—what? Herbs, maybe, and hay; the smell of sunwashed landscape, the smell of summer. A few minutes pass. I smell more now: Tahitian vanilla, wild animals, rusted tools and wooden doors. It smells young but old, green but wise. I sip, finally.

Domaine Le Mas des Collines Regis de Taxis Gigondas 2005 | Price: $20 Inky violet-red, this wine gives off the scent of violets, warm blackberries, smoke, and earth. Supple on the palate, it offers black bramble fruits with high notes of cherry and dark notes of chocolate. Easy and nimble, but also grounded. Lively, but also demure. Maybe the best word for it is gamine. If Audrey Tatou were a wine, she'd be this.

Kellermeister Boots Barossa Grenache 2007 | Price: $15 This wine is bright purple, with a heady, peppery nose, redolent of carnation and chocolate. On the palate it's simple but sexy, with lots of plum fruit and more pepper. It finishes smooth and even.

I must secure bottles of this. -------------------- Label for our 2010 Santa Barbara Highlands Mourvedre. 100% Whole Cluster, 12.8% abv.

Pin this and I will select a random person to whom I will ship a bottle to from my personal cellar, worldwide (with this label, which is only available in the US market). Domaine Zafeirakis from Tyrnavos, a young wine maker who is receiving a lot of praise. Grape variety is the indigenous Malagousia, which was rescued in the 1970ies and has since been planted in many Greek wine regions. It has become one of the most important indigenous grape varieties of Greece. Citrus fruit, lime and green pepper, moderate alcohol and an unexpected acidity. The wine stays on its lees for a minimum of 60 days. Perfect with Vietnamese or Chinese cuisine.

Haven't had this vintage but the 1978 La Tache remains the single greatest wine I have ever tasted.---------------------------- 1963 DRC La Tache.... Mmm wine porn

Wine of the Week, Winery of the Month, Rhone white from Tablas Creek review.

Newly released Syrah|Mourvedre label from my friends @2ShepherdsWine

Pin and Win: Pin this wine and I will pick a winner from the pinners tomorrow by midnight, I will ping u on Pinterest with my email. Now as for the wine: Notes: Licorice and black paint and a hint of old shoe dominate this wonderful medium body wine, huge hints of Tabasco and tobacco leaf resonate through the mid palate and the wonderful sour and I mean sour cherry finish this wine off. I adored this wine and expect it to last for 15+ years! $41 PS: This wine comes from me gary vaynerchuk not any wine retailer

Can't wait to dive into these.
