Cocktail dress, Christian Dior for Christian Dior, Inc., Paris, France: ca.1954, silk faille. "A fine piece of twine and a metal "seal" hangs from the interior side seam, which signifies that import tax was paid on this garment. Without the removal of the original lining, this seal would not be visible. This is the only dress in the museum's Dior collection that still contains the import tax seal."
