Yesterday I spent about 6 hours with a pair of great grey owls and watched them hunt voles all day ! Temperatures were very cold so these owls are very hungry . He must have caught at least 6 voles . Here is a capture of him flying toward me as he was heading to a tree to land on by me . Was worth freezing my toes off in -30 Celsius watching them and capturing them in action ! More to come ! Feel free to Share. Famous Amos Photography with Jodie Dukes Stahl in Tumbler Ridge.
Red-bellied Woodpecker Identification, All About Birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology
Red-bellied Woodpeckers are pale, medium-sized woodpeckers common in forests of the East. Their strikingly barred backs and gleaming red caps make them an unforgettable sight – just resist the temptation to call them Red-headed Woodpeckers, a somewhat rarer species that's mostly black on the back with big white wing patches. Learn the Red-bellied's rolling call and you’ll notice these birds everywhere.
