Bug killer without the harsh chemicals. DIY- bowl ( I used a butter container), a tablespoon or so of dish soap (dawn) about 1/4c to 1/2c of vinegar and filled the rest with water and set it outside. I made this batch 2 days ago and there are flies, knats and spiders dead in it! After about a week I empty it and start over. :)

Before planting cuttings, he pushes the bottom end into a small potato, which he believes keeps the cuttings moist as they develop roots. It sounds crazy, but his row of allotment roses is proof it works." (quote from link)
