Not all women on the wartime homefront became "Rosie the Riveter." During both World War I & II, there was an extreme shortage of farm workers and women were called into action of joining the "Land Army." This poster is from 1918.
Back during World War I (1918), our government even had a school garden program in effect. It is exciting to note that school gardens are increasing in popularity and are one of the areas where the Victory Seed Company is focusing our charitable giving.
World War II Victory Gardens (aka War Gardens) were not limited to the United States of America. Every nation was affected and all relied, to one degree or another, on the citizen's of their nation producing some of their own food. This is a poster from England.
