    A pair of Serbian man's leather shoes with leather thonging and with a decorative 'horn 'or 'serpent' folded back over a plaited leather front panel. The lower edges are joined by metal studs and the shoe is fastened by a metal buckle, 'opanci' (singular 'opanak').

    built 1907 - demonstrates 'frozen' Byzantine style - Church of St. George - (photo by Katarina 2353, via Flickr) The church and mausoleum of the Karađorđević dynasty was built at the top of Mali Oplenac (Little Oplenac). King Petar I decided to build a church and a mausoleum for both his ancestors and descendants to fulfil a wish of his parents buried in Vienna. The church is covered with white marble from nearby Venčac mine. Interior is covered in mosaics, with more than 6 million pieces.
