A cascade of our Mallee tumblers as they await outside the ceramic spa for the final stage of their creation: polishing.  It's after their final firing we give each tumbler a rough once over with a square of kiln shelving - ironically it's the easiest material to use to knock off stray pieces of kiln wash, sharp little iron freckles and sometimes old glaze that may have fused to a part of a tumbler.  Then we lather our tumblers up with sunlight soap and give them a light soak in warm water…

28.01.13 | The Hopeful Potter Potash Feldspar 40, Whiting 20, China Clay 25, Flint 15. The oxide percentages that I added to get this blue are: 1% Nickel Oxide, 3% Cobalt Carbonate and 1% Copper Oxide Black.
