Pennies are good in the garden for repelling slugs and making hydrangeas blue.

who knew: pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue! "Here’s a simple garden art project, that is wonderfully mindless. Use a strong glue to attach your surplus pennies to a thrift store bowling ball. It would be a great project to do with your kids on a rainy day. For the glue, my favorite is made by Amazing Goop, and I use the Home and Garden or Marine formula, because they are UV resistant as well as waterproof."
Penny Ball for the garden. Pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue. I love this idea.using an old bowling ball, strong glue and pennies
REALLY COOL IDEA!!!! who knew: pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue. Really?? Will have to try this! glue 1-2 layers of pennies on an old bowling ball with E-6000 craft glue. They tend to slide around a bit till the glue firms up, so work in small areas at a time, keeping the freshly glued area at the top to minimize sliding. Once you have an area securely glued, it will keep the newly glued areas from sliding.
I'm going to try this! Gardening Ideas / REALLY COOL IDEA!!!!z>> who knew: pennies in the garden repel slugs and make hydrangeas blue. I have the bowling ball out in the rock garden waiting for this.

Fern Moss - Shade Plants
Sheet Moss (Hypnum) - A versatile, low growing moss / shade plant with a high transplant success rate. Sheet Moss (Hypnum) thrives in shade, but will also tolerate partial sunlight – but not direct afternoon sun. It is ideal as a ground cover between stepping stones, patio stones, or for any light to medium foot traffic area. Top choice for moss paths

Flagstone Path with moss
Moss is a staple in our shade gardens, it was here when we arrived and I must admit I did not see the beauty of this plant for many years. Grows in our sandy soil in shade to partial shade, it is an ideal ground cover in the fairy garden, it grows between the stones and rocks of the gardens, but it tends to get slippery when wet. It must be removed from the white clapboard buildings with a bleach solution each year.
Arenaria balearica; Corsican Sandwort; Dense mats of moss-like foliage make an excellent groundcover for shady, damp or dry areas. Dainty white flowers completely cover in spring for a very nice look for a woodland walk or fern grotto. Use between stepping stones or to cover bulb gardens. Creates unique green moguls when planted in tight quarters. Great as a ground cover if you don't want to MOW!

Freaking love hostas. Hostas are easy to grow, shade tolerant, herbaceous perennials. Hostas are grown mainly for their beautiful foliage. Hosta leaves come in a wide range of shapes, colors, sizes, and textures. One common name for Hosta still used in some garden centers is Plantain Lily. Hostas are sometimes still referred to as Funkia. But the real name for hosta is Hosta.

Lime Light. This new Hydrangea is so amazing that it might as well be a whole new type of shrub! Not only is it much, MUCH cold hardier than most -- happy all the way through zone 4 in the north! -- but its blooms open green and then progress through 4 different colors! And when the flowers finally stop arriving in fall, the foliage leaps into the limelight by turning bright red!

Flowers are a universally recognized way of expressing love around the world, but in China they can have a double meaning that is based on the number of flowers given. As I have posted before, numbers have great meaning in Chinese culture. Any amount sends a positive message, but a particular number of flowers can be used to send a hidden one.
