This uncommon collection of Russian fairy tales includes the distinctive work of Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942), one of the most influential illustrators and stage designers of the 2oth century. Born in St Petersburg, and a student of the Russian artist Ilya Repin, he first gained renown in 1899 with his illustrations for a series of Russian fairy tales (a selection of which appears in this book). He went on to design the 1909 production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Golden Cockerel in Moscow, among others, and helped stage numerous operas and ballets in Paris, where he lived for some years.

Pictorial Metaphor: Our lives are hid with Christ in God through His Resurrection power. How awesome is that? Father God was in Christ reconciling us to Himself... when we receive this revelation we become new creations, eternal Spiritual Beings who are aware they live and move and have their Being in and through their Creator ... they live in HIS Kingdom now, not simply when the are released from the limitations of this body of flesh. They become Ministers of reconciliation not condemnation!

painted spoons WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THESE ON MY KITCHEN WALL
Russian wooden spoons - cool for kitchen wall. Hmm cool craft idea
Though the scale might be hard to determine from the photo, the wooden spoons pictured above are easily a foot long. Hand painted, they are intended to be used and not merely hung as decorations (though if you buy one, wash it by hand and not in the dishwasher.) Each unique, they are things of beauty, but cost surprisingly little (especially when compared to those shirts). Figure about $5 per spoon. They are a very good Russian souvenir option due to their low cost vs visual appeal.
From Russia with Love: beautiful cooking utensils.
