Vintage Ephemera: children
Wait. Model: Rachel Gurney. 1872. Albumen print, 327 x 254mm (12 7/8 x 10). Scanned from Colin Fords Julia Margaret Cameron: 19th Century Photographer of Genius. Originally from The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
Julia Margaret Cameron focuses her photography on portraits and this is a portrayal of what seems to be a young girl with angel wings surrounding her. I like the black and white of early photography and it gives a vibrant look even with the child's frowning face. The photograph still captures the subjects face very well.

Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894 – 1986) was a photographer and painter, known for his photo's of auto races, planes and models. Renée Perle moved to Paris and became a model. In 1930, she met Lartigue. Nicknaming her the 'parasol' as she was hidden by her accessory, he immediately fell in love with the dark beauty and began a passionate relationship that would last 2 years. Ravishingly beautiful, tall, chic and photogenic, his model and muse that diffused the feel of a charming, mysterious woman.

"If her past were your past, her pain your pain, her level of consciousness your level of consciousness, you would think and act exactly as she does. With this realization comes forgiveness, compassion, peace. The ego doesn’t like to hear this, because if it cannot be reactive and righteous anymore, it will lose strength." Eckhart Tolle

Cranky Old Man – A Poem And A Gift Left Behind – Author Unknown...good grief I cried so hard
What a precious moment. *sniff*
this photos reminds me of my husband's grandfather. He was in the hospital last week because he had a minor heart attack. He had many visitors and people who love him and his eyes lit up when our daughter, his 4 month old great-granddaughter came in. I thought how proud he must be to see 4 generations of his family in one room. :)
The life cycle continues because of loving bonds. What a precious picture.
A life ends. A live begins. Beautiful picture! Brings tears to my eyes...

The first fashion model - Virginia Oldoini, Countess di Castiglione, a Tuscan noblewoman at the court of Napoleon III. Fashion photography has been in existence since the earliest days of photography. In 1856, Adolphe Braunpublished a book containing 288 photographs of Virginia Oldoini, aka Countess. In the first decade of the 20th century, advances in halftoneprinting allowed fashion photographs to be featured in magazines. Fashion photography made its first appearance in French magazines such as La mode practique. In 1909, Condé Nast took over Vogue magazine and also contributed to the beginnings of fashion photography. In 1911, photographer Edward Steichen was "dared" byLucien Vogel, the publisher ofJardin des Modes and La Gazette du Bon Ton, to promote fashion as a fine art by the use of photography
Virginia Oldoini, Countess di Castiglione, was an Italian Courtesan and secret agent who became famous for her affair with Emperor Napoléon III of France. She is also considered to be the first fashion model.

from LIFE magazine Large plastic bracelets, huge round plastic earrings, and Lucite rings with polka dots were just a few accessories in Mod fashion. Big or small boxy handbags in bright colors, or geometric designs. Most earrings were so big they had to be clipped on the ear instead of having posts for pierced ears. Pale painted nails to match makeup or jewelry were very popular.
