Well, not a place, but... Carved Book Landscapes by Guy Laramee

Day 9 - Hoi An a designated Unesco world heritage site. The Old Quarter proved to be such a delightful city to explore with its Chinese pagodas, the Japanese Covered Bridge, the 18th century shopfronts, roadside cafes and bustling markets. It's a shoppers paradise for crafts such as its famous lanterns, ceramics, fashion and tailormade garments. We had some of the best streetfood here. By night our group brushed up on our pool skills while enjoying some local brews.

Kolmanskop, Namibia Formerly a bustling diamond mining town, after the market declined, inhabitants began leaving the town after WWI; by 1954, it was completely deserted. As it was an enclave for German colonialists for many years, the architecture is not only out of place, but its abandonment enhances it even more.
