To grow a child's cognitive skills, a CCLS must provide them with a wider range of vocabulary (especially when in the hospital). Understanding words such as IV, sedation, and blood pressure cuff allows a child to have a deeper understanding of their treatment in the hospital. The technical term is important for children to learn, while also learning what it means in ways they can understand.
