The Vasa was a Swedish warship. At the time of its construction in 1628 it was considered the greatest battleship of all time. Unfortunately, the ship was poorly designed and didn't even travel a mile before it sank beneath the waves. The lower gun ports had been placed such that even the weakest waves flooded over them. As the ship turned, it filled with water, and sank. The Swedish King, who was on board was saved. The ship was raised in 1961 in almost perfect condition. It's now a museum.
