I'll finish my week off with the most incredible sunset I've ever seen. My time in Bangladesh was so transformative. If you want to learn more check out http://ift.tt/2dPAE6H. #bangladesh #chittagong #sunset

No matter the challenges of volunteering abroad they are vastly outweighed by the incredibly people you meet and experiences you have. This pictures was taken during my walk to work. A kind family saw me and invited me in for tea and roti. We didn't speak the same languages but we were able to share beautiful breakfast together. #volunteerabroad #worldteach30 #teachabroad

Don't want to sugar coat anything. Volunteering abroad can test your limits. Here is a pic from one of our lowest points in Bangladesh. After 36 hours of travel we ended up trapped in the Dhaka airport with a colony of mosquitos and a hole in the ground for a toilet. #hardwork #volunteerabroad #challenges

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." The students at AUW so beautifully embodied that idea. Happy Martin Luther King Jr Day. #mlk #volunteerabroad #makeadifference

One of the most magical and colorful nights in Chittagong! A co-worker invited us to his wedding. Our students even volunteered to help us with our sarees before the event.

As I depart I'll leave you with one last sunset photos with Sokeh's Rock featured in the background. There are so many other amazing things about this wonderful island that I wish I could share with you. But I hope my photos and words have provided you with some insight to the island that captured my heart. I fell in love not just with the place but also the people - so much so that I decided to stay. I'm still here on the island of Pohnpei working with students at the college and…

Outside of teaching I was also a coach for the debate team at my school. All of the high schools on the island competed against each other for the chance to participate in the national competition. It was also an opportunity for them to earn scholarship money. As a volunteer it was a great opportunity for me to connect with my students outside of the classroom and to also get to know a bit more about the culture. Pictured above are two of my debate students celebrating the completion of the…

This is Ant Atoll and it is safe to say that it is probably my favorite place in the entire world! It's a sparsely populated chain of atolls about an hour and a half boat ride from Pohnpei. It is literally paradise; anyone who comes to Pohnpei should check out this spot because it is truly beautiful. It is also protected allow for the continuation of its unaltered beauty! #AntAtoll #Pohnpei #paradise #pacific #ocean #islandlife #fsm #micronesia #worldteach #volunteer #teachabroad…

At the end of the school year my roommate (pictured in the back row middle) and I took one of our classes out for an overnight picnic. We ended up going to Nahlap a little island just off the southwest coast of Pohnpei. We spent a couple of days there hanging out swimming grilling and relaxing. The students seemed to enjoy themselves and I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know them outside of the classroom. Pohnpei had many little islands to visit most are just a 10 minute boat ride away.
