Happy Birthday to my absolute favorite musician Mr. Bob Dylan. Love this photo by Richard Avedon.
Richard Avedon. Bob Dylan, Singer, 132nd Street and FDR Drive, Harlem, New York City, November 4, 1963. The only portrait of Dylan that could compete with the album art for The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan was shot by Richard Avedon a few months after he performed with Joan Baez for the March on Washington. Dylan may have been a commanding success by this point, but Avedon nevertheless relied, profitably, on his persistent image as a shoestring musician living out of a guitar case.

Richard Avedon, Master Photographer. During his illustrious career, he did minimalist photo's of celebrities & people he found of interest.
Andy Warhol's scars, photographed by Richard Avedon, 1971. On June 3, 1968, Warhol was shot three times by Valerie Solanas at artist's studio.
Andy Warhol by Richard Avedon (via) After Warhol was shot in 1968 he became more cautious. He stopped taking amphetamines and began eating garlic. “Instead of transsexuals and speed freaks” he was now accompanied by people such as Liza Minnelli and Bianca Jagger. And “instead of the Factory, he partied at Studio 54.”

☆ Andy Warhol - Andy shows his scars - he was shot on June 3, 1968 by Valerie Solanas, the author of the SCUM Manifesto, a separatist attack on men and a marginal member of Warhol's Factory group. Andy barely survived and suffered physical effects for the rest of his life. Art critic Mario Amaya was also shot in the incident and suffered minor injuries .:¦:. Photo By Richard Avedon ☆

Corner Portrait, Photographer, Irvingpenn, December 23, Irving Penn, Portraits, Photography, Marlene Dietrich
Irving Penn’s corner portrait of Marlene Dietrich. Who knew being crammed into a corner could look so graceful? #vintage #blackandwhite #marlenedietrich
Marlene Dietrich ‘Irving Penn (1917 – 2009) was an American photographer known for his portraiture and fashion photography. He was among the first photographers to pose subjects against a simple grey or white backdrop. Expanding his austere studio surroundings, Penn constructed a set of upright angled backdrops, to form a stark, acute corner.’
I love these corner portraits by Irving Penn. With Marlene Dietrich as the model...The German actress and singer who spoke out against the Nazi take over of her country and performed tirelessly for American troops during and after World War 1. Strong, talented, brave, and beautiful.

Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement that flourished by the 1960s. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became a renowned and sometimes controversial artist.

Little Native American Indian boy dressed in Ceremonial Pow Wow dance regalia -- (his tribe not specified). FYI -- the clothing worn by Native American pow wow dancers is properly called "regalia" or "dance regalia" -- they are not 'costumes', as so many make the mistake of calling them. Much care and tradition goes into creating one's dance regalia.
How can anyone deny the beauty? Pow Wow. Learning along the e-pow wow trail is part of Native Americans spiritual up-bringing.

Frida Kahlo was an inspiration as an artist and as someone who lived every day with debilitating chronic pain.
Frida Kahlo is one of my greatest heroes. I have photographs of her around my home to inspire me. She reminds me that even if you have great pain, emotional and physical, in your life, so can still create a life full of passion, joy and beauty. She was sexy, beautiful, tender, fearless, funny as hell...I love her so.
