A celestial, bicephalic monster, a dragonlike beast with a crocodilian head or heads. Shell with jade inserts. Also represents a later version of the crocodile tree, probably the character from the "Popol Vuh," the Mayan Book of the Dead, known as Zipacna, one of the sons of Vucub Caquix. Its body can have several forms. Usually the rear head is a Quadrapartite God. Venus signs often mark the front head. The Cosmic Monster personified the Milky Way in its east-west configuration.
